Who We Are
After a September 2015 Citizens for Century III (C-3) Breakfast Dialogue program about the resurgence of Tijuana and the border region, a small group of the Mexico-based presenters and C-3 board members collaborated to develop this concept to promote and benefit border communities through cultural and entrepreneurial partnerships and exchanges.
Following upon this a few members of San Diego’s South Park business community connected with creators of Tijuana’s Colonia Federal, they began a collaborative partnership to further creativity and quality of life in urban communities on both sides of the border. This collaboration became known as Barrios Hermanos (brother neighborhoods).

Barrios Hermanos is conceived as a resource to improve and promote the quality of life for those living and working in urban communities on both sides of the border. “Barrios Hermanos wants to help create better neighborhoods – hermanos, Bros, whatever you’d like to call us! – by strengthening communities, communication and collaboration on both sides of the border”
– Miguel Marshall CEO Centro Ventures

What Is C-3?
C-3 is a 55-year-old citizen-based non-profit that educates and advocates for good land use planning, sustainable urban design and equitable governance in the San Diego region.

It offers a comprehensive approach to growth management by encouraging open space, high standards of urban design, and coordination of planning between public and private sectors.

“C-3 is all about making a difference in our regional quality of life through education and advocacy. Mexico is an essential and integral part of our region and it is to everyone’s advantage to strengthen our relationships on every level. We are excited about this effort to bring people together on both sides of the border” – Roger Lewis, C-3 Board member.

C-3 launched Barrios Hermanos by promoting and then providing funding for its web page. However, Barrios Hermanos is being created to be a standalone collaborative effort.
